I have a 1991 ZX TT. I had the clutch replaced about 1 month ago and the clutch master cylinder about 2 weeks ago. The clutch was working fine for a few days and then I noticed that the clutch feel was significantly firmer. I only drive the car on weekends, so the miles driven were limited. Along with the firmer clutch feel, the idle was a little erratic (going from 700 to 900 RPMs), so I decided to clean the throttle bodies this weekend. After I started the car, I noticed a faint "hissing" sound coming somewhere from inside the car. My erratic or fluctuating idle was still present; however, my idle jumped up from 700 to 900 RPMs to 1,000 to 1,200 RPMs. I then proceeded to try to adjust the idle by first removing the AAC valve connector. The RPMs could not be adjusted below about 750 to 950 RPMs, with the idle screw essentially all the way closed. The erratic idle/fluctuation was still there. Based upon yesterday's posting on TwinTurbo.NET, I likley have a vacuum leak somewhere, which is the "hissing" sound heard above. So, upon some limited examination, it appears that the "hissing" sound or vacuum leak is coming from my clutch booster. It appears that it could be coming from the "drum" part of the booster. Per my Manual, is this the check valve that could be leaking which I need to replace or something more significant like the entire clutch booster? Thanks.
